Samsung Tab is headed for multiple carriers: GSM/CDMA

When photos popped up of Samsung’s Galaxy tablet, Tab, bearing a white tape label with “CDMA” printed on it, the natural response was to look for the gadget on tablet-hungry Verizon (where it will be turning up) and to ask the question: “Will we see a GSM version?” The answer to that question comes today in the form of FCC filings that list the Tab’s GSM frequencies as 850, 900,1800, 1900, with HSDPA on board. Will AT&T be seeing the Tab before the end of the year? We should know on 9/02 or 9/16.

The unfortunate thing here is that, since these tablet are going to be 3G and 4G connected, they will be tied to wireless providers. Which means only the largest companies will have the best tablets. T-Mobile customers will not have any tablet to choose from, while Verizon customers will have several. Unless Samsung continues it's Galaxy S trend and makes a version for every major (and some minor) carrier.

If only the Galaxy series was released with an all GSM band version and all CDMA band version.

(I mean that it would be usable on T Mobile/At&t for the All GSM version and vice versa for the CDMA)

  3. that would be cool:)
i like the way you think

Will there be a cheaper WiFi-only version, like with the ipad?
