Today, the Sony Ericsson Product Blog put up a post titled “Update on Updates.” Can you guess what it’s going to be about? A new time-frame for updates to the X10 family of course, which is now slated for the “end of October and onwards.” Judging from the comments on the post, people are not happy. Neither is SE, but does that really soften the blow?
“We are of course not happy about the change of launch timing but we have had to spend some additional time on the software to really makes sure we roll-out with the right quality and user experience.”
It’s understandable that quality user experience must be achieved before releasing an update, but give me a break. There is such a thing as taking far too long; I don’t know whether the X10 or Cliq exemplifies that better. Although I suppose the X10 being on 1.6 does give the device a leg up. As SE has said, look for the update to arrive (hopefully) in the next 4 – ? weeks.
