“Visa Insider” app for the Toronto International Film Festival

There’s a new free app available in the Android Market targeted at attendees of the Toronto International Film Festival from September 9th to the 19th, as well as at film buffs, fame fanatics, and those simply curious about the event. It’s called “Visa Insider” and is available on the Android Market, and here for BlackBerry users. iPhone support is coming soon.

The app gives access to Visa’s own content, like their Screening Room schedule, red carpet interviews, photos, and insider buzz. More general information, like geo-locations of happenings are available also. But this app isn’t a one-way delivery system; it gives users the ability to check in at various locales, submit movie, party, and food ratings, and “even report celebrity sightings (ala Gawker stalker)”. Personally, I’m hoping for some dish on Joaquin Phoenix, as well as user reviews of his and Casey Affleck’s film, Still Here, which People’s Alynda Wheat declared “tough to watch.”
