“All operator versions” of the Galaxy S to see Froyo by end of Nov [UPDATE]

Begin update:

It’s as we may have feared, but hoped it wouldn’t be. Samsung has said via Twitter that their Tweet, which was essentially the same thing as the press release, pertains only to devices in the UK. As I said earlier though, it’s still a good sign for Galaxy S devices in the US.

End update.

Before you go and get too excited on what the title of this post really means, more than anything it’s one of those ever popular press release word games.

In a press release put out by Samsung today, it was announced that Froyo for the Galaxy S is being “fully tested with UK operators and the upgrade will be available in the UK from early November.” The update will be available through the newest version of Samsung’s Kies software (available here) in order to keep hiccups throughout the process to a minimum.

So what about US owners of a Galaxy S device? There’s one sentence in the PR that looks to be a good sign of things to come: “We expect all operator versions of the software to be fully tested and downloadable by the end of November.” The wording is very loose, with no exact date or models, but it’s assumed all operator versions includes the Vibrant, Captivate, Epic, and Fascinate. Of course if could also mean all operator devices in the UK, as that is where the press release was addressed. Either way, with the end of November only 5 weeks away, expect some good news to hit stateside any day now.
