Firefox for Android Beta 1

We’ve been waiting and waiting for Firefox to become available to the public on Android devices (I’ve been waiting for two years), and the time has finally come where anyone with an Android can test it out.

The browser, previously known as Fennec, is just in it’s first beta, so don’t expect market quality performance from what will eventually be one of the best browsers–if not the best–available for the Android platform. But this beta, which can be downloaded here (check supported gadgets first), offers a nice glimpse into what I hope is the not-too-distant future. Notable features of the app include an interesting method of accessing settings and tabs, the ability to sync all kinds of stored data with the desktop app, and extensions.

I don't think I'll do another in that series. I wrote two. But I do have some new EVO batteries of different sizes on the way and I will be covering my experience with them.

Looks nice... does it offer Flash equivalent since my silly phone doesn't have necessary system requirements?

They're calling this a beta? This is pretty terrible. I'm glad to see someone else in the game, to push innovation, etc... Regardless, Fennec performs horribly, even on my G2. I was one of the naysayers who predicted it would be a bloated memory hog, just like desktop Firefox. Appears I was right. They have a LONG way to go before matching the performance of WebKit (to be honest, all WebKit needs is some UI/chrome improvements, which is exactly what a lot of the third-party browsers do). Being that this is a beta, and the "stable" release probably won't be too much different, it's going to be a long wait.

I'm a firefox user, And I think I'm still happy with what ships on android.

Chrome won me over on the desktop (from Firefox), and I do love the Android browser, but this isn't even the beginning for Firefox on Android. I think we will see great improvements.

When are you going to post another article about ur Evo powerplan?
