The Arkon IPM-TAB1 is a light-weight, portable, folding adjustable stand that fits Apple’s iPad, the BlackBerry Playbook, and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab. At $17.95 and just 3 ounces, it stands to reason that this thing isn’t built to last, right? Wrong. I’ve been using Arkon’s Mega Grip car dock daily for over four months now and have yet to run into any problems. Arkon’s light and affordable plastic gear wears well.
The tablet stand folds up for easy travel and takes up about as much space as a large tube of toothpaste. It’s very easy to set up: just pull out the hinged back support with its soft-touch pads, spread the feet (also grip padded) to the correct width for your device/orientation, and you’re good to go.
My experiences with Arkon have been positive–both in terms of interaction and my own product satisfaction. While I can’t testify to the longevity of their tablet stand, the other Arkon products I’ve tested stand the test of time (at least for four months). At the price points Arkon is operating with, I would consider a year or two of product use enough to get your money’s worth, and from what I can tell, their accessories will surpass that window. The IPM-TAB1 does what it’s supposed to with little fuss, low cost, and is easy to travel with. I have nothing negative to say about it.
