Google updates Android “Platform Versions” page

Google’s Android Developers site is regularly updated with new numbers regarding the use of various versions of Android by the mobile public. Yesterday, some new numbers went up, along with the chart below. As you can see, Android 2.1 is running more devices than any other version, with 40.8%, and 2.2 is in second place with 36.2%. 1.5 and 1.6 make up 7.9 and 15% respectively (thanks, Sony Ericsson).

A timeline visualisation is embedded underneath the current numbers, demonstrating the growth of new versions and the death od old. Hard to believe people are still out there running Cupcake!
