In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Sony Ericsson CEO, Bert Nordberg says (regarding the rumors of a Playstation Android phone): “There’s a lot of smoke, and I tell you there must be a fire somewhere…Sony has an extremely strong offering in the gaming market, and that’s very interesting.” In several other arguably coy statements that dodge leak status, Nordberg confirms the likelihood of the development of such a gadget and the need for it in the current landscape. Nordberg points out that current phones are not optimized for gaming, and that Sony, in addition to being one of the most important companies in the gaming hardware market, knows how to take care of the legal wrangling required in the game licensing process.
The Playstation phone, which will probably bear the Sony Ericsson XPERIA brand, and is said to be called Zeus internally, has made its way into public consciousness by way of some huge leaks by Engadget, some of which include real photos.
Nordberg, without specifying a gadget, said that he wants to make a lot of noise at MWC in Barcelona next February. the XPERIA PS (?) could definitely cause a stir.
