Google bringing own movie streaming to Google TV
One of the little advantages Apple TV currently has over Google TV is the ability to purchase and rent from the iTunes store when Netflix fails to deliver desired content. But Google TV will be announcing their own video streaming and market in early 2011, according to an anonymous source. TechCrunch has it that the service will be an extension of the test program Google launched over at YouTube, and will be coming to Google TV. I hope that means via a dedicated app.
The source says that Robert Kyncl, who used to work for Netflix, is negotiating studio deals for The Big G as you read this, and that technology from the Google-acquired Widevine will facilitate the new product/service.

The apps are by far my favorite part about Google TV. I work for DISH Network and got the Logitech Revue with Google TV as soon as it came out. It has apps for Pandora, Netflix, and Twitter and lets you browse the web all while watching TV. Check it out at dish.com/googleTV.
