Rumors have been swirling for the past few months surrounding the possible launch of an Android tablet by HTC. The more seemingly reliable of related leaks peg the specs with a dual-core Tegra 2 and a 1280 X 720 display. Honeycomb, Android 2.4, is also suspected.
Considering the current tablet market and leaked information regarding Android tablet releases by many other OEM’s, that HTC–arguably responsible for the most elegant Androids available–would enter the fray is a no-brainer. But it’s nice to get new bits of evidence here and there, even if they might not indicate a pending release.
Last Sunday, HTC filed for a trademark on “handheld wireless device, namely, a tablet computer,” registering the names “HTC Scribe” and “Scribe.” The moniker hints at the possibility of a stylus or maybe even fingertip handwriting recognition, but could also refer to the tablet’s prowess as an e-reader. Then again, the filing could simply represent the reservation of a concept that will never come to fruition.
