More PlayStation phone rumors, now XPERIA Play

We knew that Sony Ericsson’s PlayStation-based Android device would likely see a change in branding from the code name Zeus and agreed upon pre-release moniker, PlayStation Phone, and the new title is the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play, so says Pocket Lint. Their sources also confirm a Mobile World Congress launch in Barcelona this February, though the device won’t hit shelves until April, and that’s just in the UK, for starters. Perhaps in the time between now and then SE can get this would-be powerful device up to snuff in the performance department.

Can't believe they want to pin the XPERIA tag on it....a name synonymous with slow development, sub-par performance and cheap hardware. Then again, that's probably exactly what it will be. I don't know why I was expecting anything better. Oh SE, how the mighty have fallen.

Crossfire is a registered trademark of ATI, and besides, the powers that be would be hard pressed NOT to name it something as direct as "Playstation Phone". They deviated from said name probably because it will play games specifically designed for "Zeus" platform. Something in the same league as Windows Phone 7 XBOX Live games. This thing could very well be a failure if it isn't designed with multiplayer games in mind. I own a Windows Phone 7 and current generation Android phone and both gaming experiences are lackluster at best, but if they're were more multiplayer experiences to be had, who knows?

FAIL FAIL FAIL.....Why not X-Play or Cross-Fire etc?.....I hope this phone is more than a Android phone with PSP emulator....SMH
