Updates galore: DROID, X, Wildfire, and Legend

Today is one of those days where it feels like the update news just doesn’t stop rolling in. Be it for maintenance or a full-blown upgrade to Froyo 2.2, there’s a little bit of everything today.

The original DROID and DROID X are being updated now to 2.2.1. While the original Motorola DROID’s update is legitimate and rolling out in phases right now, the DROID X is a little more complicated. According to Droid-Life, the update that some of you may have seen was just a test to uncover any last minute bugs. In other words, it may need a quick fix before everyone will receive it. Be sure to let us know if you land the update and how it goes.

The HTC Legend and Wildfire are both receiving maintenance updates to version 2.05.405.2 and 1.37.405.1 respectively. As far as the update for the Wildfire goes, we’re probably just looking at some bug fixes and overall tweaks, but it’s possible the update is in preparation for Froyo. The update for the Legend is definitely in preparation for Froyo, as HTC has announced via their Facebook page that 2.2 will be rolling out to the Legend starting tomorrow.

None of this answers the question of who’s going to see Gingerbread, but hey, it’s nice to see Motorola and HTC still sending out some sort of updates to their loyal users. More than what most Samsung users get, eh?
