While at CES in Vegas last week, Android and Me’s Taylor Wimberly attended a meeting held by the Wireless Power Consortium–members include HTC, Sony Ericsson, and LG–and filmed a demonstration of charging products with the standardized Qi compatibility brand. To his and our surprise, the LG Revolution was one of the demo phones on hand. Why Verizon and LG chose not to point to this feature as a major selling point during their respective press events is a mystery. And actually, it seems that Qi wireless charging wasn’t even mentioned by either company in the unveiling of the Revolution. But the phone is ready for Qi, and a “revolution” appears to be just around the corner. Say goodbye to third party strap-ons; wireless charging will be shipping with some phones in 2011.
