New Xperia Play videos reveal…very little

Don’t get me wrong, I’m very excited for Sony Ericsson’s upcoming PlayStation phone, the Xperia Play. And any leak is a good leak, right? But it would be great if, amongst the litany of leaks we’ve seen from this gadget, there was a video the clearly demonstrated actual gameplay on the device (outside of the occasional PSX ROM). We may have to wait until Mobile World Congress for a taste of the gadget’s true gaming potential, but we can have a tiny peek at the user interface.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the Play’s UI, and it’s not the first time we’ve seen its use trigger multiple force closes. But this is the first video that I can recall demonstrating a bit of SE’s custom animation; namely, the shift of icons when moving them around the homescreen. Yeah, it isn’t much, but I’m betting there are more than a few hardcore PS fanatics that are studying every last bit of information busting loose on this phone. Hot the source for a couple more videos.

looks boring to me. what they should do is take the exact hardware for psp and just add phone capabilities. much like apple did when they converted ipod touch into the mega gay iphone. would cost very little to do and could become wildly succesful like apples ipodtouch w/ phone.
