Norwegian site amobil has apparently been tipped off regarding some of the specs of HTC’s upcoming tablet, Flyer. Word is that a 7″ version is likely headed for T-Mobile while Verizon could get the 10″ LTE counterpart. The 7″ version will apparently feature a 1024 X 600 resolution display, like the Galaxy Tab. The processor is said to match that of the Desire HD (Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255), and DLNA support, 5MP cam with facial recognition, 1.3MP front-facing cam are also said to be on board.
The leak also mentions an updated version of HTC’s UI, Sense, that will provide a “desktop feel.” Likely a reference to the recently trademarked Sensation. The 7″ tablet is expected to launch with Android 2.3 and be upgradable to Honeycomb (3.0).
Some of these specs might seem a bit less agressive than consumers are expecting in 2011, with dual-core gadgets taking the Android world by storm. However, not all of us can afford to drop $800 on what likely amounts to a very cool toy ( ahem, Xoom, *cough*), so a cheaper model with HTC’s legendary hardware design might be just what the doctor ordered. Then again, most of what we know about the Flyer comes from either questionable or relatively unknown sources with no solid confirmation, so let’s just assume that the details on this device could change dramatically in the coming weeks.
