Update to Android Market enables non-touchscreen support

When changes related to the Android Market are happening behind the scenes, developers are always the first to know. In order to keep apps working properly when new devices or different form factors hit the market, sometimes things have to be changed from the app developers end, not just through Android itself.

In a recent update to the Android Market, the ability to check for touchscreen support has been added. This means that just around the corner, the Android Market will be available for non-touchscreen devices – Devices like Google TV.

GTV has long promised the arrival of the Android Market in early 2011, and it looks like the time has finally arrived. Once the Market is up and running, you can expect a plethora of innovative third-party apps to storm the platform. We’ll be sure to keep an eye out for when the transition goes official, but until then, why don’t you jump on into the comments and let us know what you think of Google TV: Do you own one? Want one? Excited for the Market to become available? Let it all out.

What does "non-touchscreen support" mean?

I have Google TV and for the most part, it has been a positive experience. The original Netflix player was a bit lame, but the current one is quite functional. The XBox and Roku have better players, but the one isn't too far off. I am very much looking forward to the Marketplace becoming available.

So does that mean a Droid Pro successor.. could be touch-screen-less? Or something like Galaxy Q?
