Wirefly’s EVO Shift 4G video, pre-order

Sprint’s WiMAX successor to the HTC EVO–the HTC EVO Shift 4G–is set to drop on the 9th for $149.99. But Wirefly has the gadget up for pre-order right now with a nice discount: the tag reads just $199.99, with contract required of course.

This may be a great deal on HTC’s QWERTY-packin’ Sense phone, but I know I won’t be pre-ordering any gadgets on the first day of CES in Las Vegas. The mobile phone market could be completely different in just a few days.

I thought the same and I'm not even on sprint! The EVO got so much fame because it was the first with that huge screen and to make this phone with a screen thats smaller than the standard ( 3.7" ) just doesn't make any sense. I would say screw this and get the epic if you want a big screen and a qwerty.

I don't really like this device, one thing is that, in my opinion, it doesn't deserve the name 'evo' because the spectacular thing about the Evo was the enormous screen which the Shift does not have. Judging from the smaller screen, and the ordinary slide-out mechanism it isn't really a special device and I don't know why anyone who isn't a complete Sense fanatic should prefer this one over the Epic which is also on Sprint (maybe Android 2.2 but still...). In the end I tend to no like it, because it's some kind of ordinary slider-phone with no real special in it and not what I was expecting it to be. Sorry, but thumbs down to this one. P.S. Now that the guy in the video mentions it; in the Quadrant-System-information of my HTC Desire it says 'Product: htc_bravo' too, so they maybe just let the internal name in after the device is out.
