Ready for the next big thing in Android hacking?
The Gingerbread based CyanogenMod 7 hasn’t even left release candidate status yet, and there are already several phones receiving Honeycomb ports. Some of those ports have been around for awhile now, but the numbers are certainly growing. In the past couple weeks alone, the nookColor, HTC Incredible, HTC EVO, and Desire HD have all landed Android 3.0 in one form or another.
Of course compiling a Honeycomb ROM from source and slapping it on a phone doesn’t always make for the best user experience, but it’s certainly coming along well. Check out the videos of the Incredible and EVO running Google’s tablet based UI below for a testament to just how well things are going.
What do you guys think, will the Android community beat manufacturers to the punch and release stable Honeycomb ports before Google releases Ice Cream — the version of Android that’s supposed to take Honeycomb and Gingerbread to make one phone ready super UI? Sound off!
