Moto’s Jha speaks up on Xoom pricing

It’s been a good solid day since we’ve last talked about Motorola Xoom pricing, so why not eh?

I know this is getting a little old, but there is some new information to share. Motorola’s Sanjay Jha sat down with Reuters recently, and has finally spilled the beans on a couple things. First, he said the unsubsidized version of the Xoom with Verizon 3G would cost $799. No surprise there. Second, (here’s the important one) he said that the WiFi only version of the Honeycomb powered dual-core monster will be priced around $600.

Of course Apple has set the standard for introductory tablet pricing to land around $500, but with the considerable spec boosts the Xoom has to offer over the $500 iPad, the extra $100 should be worth it.

There’s still no mention of availability for the WiFi only version, but we’ll be sure to keep a lookout.

$200 mark up for the 3G WTF

It won't be worth it if the iPad 2 touts similar specs.

Does the Xoom WiFi come with 32GB of storage? The $500 has only 16GB, whereas the 32GB version costs $600. The Xoom also has an SD card socket which should also be used for expansion in the future. $600 is a lot (I have a $250 Nook Color running Honeycomb) , but it's the same price as the equivalent iPad.

Similar models are similarly priced, introductory models are not.
