Beluga has been a shining example of just how good a BlackBerry Messenger-esque app for non-BlackBerry phones can be. So good, in fact, that it’s been acquired by none other than Facebook today. On Beluga’s site:
“Since launching Beluga, we’ve appreciated all the enthusiasm and positive feedback from our users. We’re excited to continue to build our vision for mobile group messaging as part of the Facebook team. Beluga and Facebook are committed to create new and better ways to communicate and share group experiences.”
There certainly isn’t much to indicate where Facebook plans on taking Beluga, but one can only imagine it has to be good.
Beluga will continue to operate as normal for now, and more information on the future of the messaging app will be available “in the coming weeks.”
