Gameloft to open shop in the Amazon Appstore

If you’re into gaming on your Android device, then Amazon may just be the way to go.

Gameloft, notorious for how terrible their buying experiences have always been, has recently said in an interview that instead of utilizing the Android Market for game distribution, they’ll be turning to Amazon. Thanks to Amazon’s higher security and the maturity of their ecosystem, Gameloft CEO Michel Guillemot says “it will be a safer place to come and get applications.”

This news paired with the release of a $0.99 ad-free Angry Birds means Amazon has some serious gaming weight behind them.

Last time I asked, there was rather mixed reactions on how everyone felt about the Amazon Appstore. Anyone changing their tune? Let us know in the comments below.

The free app a day also has me checking it everyday. Very smart marketing move. Any shortcommings are made up by this. I had been holding out on getting Shazam Encore as it was $5 and I didn't think it was worth it. Got it for free yesterday on amazon.

Amazon App store offers good apps, with a nice interface. The fact that there is a free app each day keeps me coming back. Not a bad move on their part.

I download one of their games awhile ago for on my N1 and that was a waste of $4.99. The game was so buggy, I never went back. But now with this offer I will definitely go back to Amazon Appstore
