Google click-to-call now enabled for emergency numbers

One of the most handy features of Google’s mobile search site is click-to-call. When you search for a local business on Google, phone numbers are links which you can easily click that send you straight to the dialer. Starting today, Google has added the click-to-call feature to emergency numbers in 14 countries.

When searching for something like poison control, the number will appear at the top of your search results as a link. All you have to do is click the link and you’re connected. Click-to-call will also work with other common emergency related numbers like suicide hotlines. It’s as Google has said, “this addition is a small step that helps connect people with crucial information that they need immediately.” Should you ever have to use Google’s click-to-call with emergency numbers, just search for the number your looking for on your mobile device.
