Google Crisis Response: 2011 Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami

In response to the earthquake that has caused massive havoc on the coasts of Japan, Google has set up a Crisis Response page.

By visiting the Crisis Response page, you can find local Japanese emergency numbers, as well as Alarm and warning information; a Disaster bulletin board; Transportation status; and Blackout information. The site also features an incredibly useful map with shelters and affected areas, along with a Person Finder available in several different languages.

The fact that there is a need for this sort of page is devastating beyond words. The fine people behind Google have really stepped up to the plate here in using their power to provide useful information in a time of desperate need.
