Google’s April Fool’s day roundup

Every year, the folks at Google just loves to pull some sort of April Fool’s day joke. This year, they’re going hard. There’s already some four or five pranks floating around the web, and it could get worse. Here’s a quick rundown.

Autocompleter:

Looking for a job at Google? Can you type 32,000 WPM? Then “Autocompleter” is the title for you.

Gmail Motion BETA:

Using a keyboard and mouse to respond to interact with your Gmail account is sooo medieval. Why not just use your body? Makes sense.

Google AdWords:

Please, don’t rage: “‘Congratulations, you’ve won’ – using modern text to speech technology, you can speak directly to your users. This ad is a video format, set to auto-play, that yells out ‘Congratulations, you’ve won!’ repeatedly to the user. If a user clicks to stop the video, they are redirected to your website.

Comic Sans search:

Quite possibly my favorite, search for Comic Sans on Google and let us know how that works out for ya.

That’s all for now, but be sure to keep a watchful eye out for any shady activity going on today. It might just be Google having a little fun. If you’ve seen any good April Fool’s day pranks online today, be sure to let us know about them in the comments.
