Motorola Xoom hacked to include voice calls and SMS

Let’s be honest for a second here, would your life really be complete if you didn’t own a phone with a 10.1-inch screen? Of course not, which is why developer sangreal06 has released a hack package that gets you one step closer with your Motorola Xoom.

Included in the .apk is a fix that makes desktop versions of websites default in the browser, the ability to use voice calls, SMS messaging, and the CRT screen off animation.

SMS is pretty straight forward, once you download an SMS client from the Market, you can send and receive messages; voice support is a little more complicated as calls can be made, but sound doesn’t work and the details surrounding the connection are a little murky; the browser fix just patches a bug with a UA string (this one is also available separate as well as in the package); and the CRT animation is simply some of that glorious Gingerbread polish that makes your device look oh so cool.

For more information and to download, visit the CRT Anim + Desktop UA String + Voice + SMS (3g only) thread on XDA.
