Rumor alert: Motorola Droid Bionic canceled

According to a trusted insider on Howard Forums, the Motorola Droid Bionic for Verizon has been canceled in favor of another handset.

With leaks and other rumors pointing towards Verizon producing several seemingly identical devices, the cancelation of the Bionic almost makes sense. Instead of continuing development on the Bionic, Motorola and Verizon are instead rumored to begin focusing on something new like the Targa (pictured below) or a familiar name like the Droid X2. Unfortunately, nothing else is known at this time.

Why Moto did not make the DX2 the "Bionic" In the first place is beyond me. Can you imagine DX2 dual core 1.2, 1 gig ram 16 rom, 4.3 qhd 4g, front faceing beast.

I don't see this as a likelihood since Verizon Wireless made a very big deal out of this phone at CES. Also, Motorola will want to have a LTE phone to compete with Samsung, LG, and HTC. The Bionic is significantly different than the other LTE Android phones with its dual core processor.
