SwiftKey update in the works

Ever since starting to first use SwiftKey a couple weeks ago, I haven’t been able to stop. Not only does the app look incredibly slick, but it features the best word prediction techniques I ever seen on a keyboard. Instead of using a bar near the top of the keys to only predict what you’re trying to say, SwiftKey tries to also predict what you’re going to say next — and it does a great job of it. So how can SwiftKey continue to build on an already great product? According to Android Guys, the next update to the app will include personalization options, along with “improving response times, battery optimization, and a bump in the prediction algorithm.”

The details surrounding the personalization features being added to SwiftKey haven’t been outlined quite yet, but word is they will center around social networking apps like Facebook and Twitter, with support for Gmail as well. With the way SwiftKey already handles custom dictionaries, it’ll certainly be interesting to see how the company tackles further customizations.

While we’re on the subject, which virtual keyboard do you use?

Loves me some swiftkey. I just wish that it supported dvorak. :(

Swiftkey is my favorite for entering text. I find that the new word selection features didn't work correctly in Gingerbread or at least in the CM7 ROM. My biggest gripe about Swiftkey is the voice key - I hate the way it works. I wish I had an option to choose Vlingo voice input. Further, I find that I prefer the word prediction of the stock Gingerbread keyboard.

I also found that Swiftkey's performance and accuracy dropped after CM7 installed. To that point, was thrilled with the app's performance, but have since switched to FlexT9 which also does a terrific job though not providing the predictive function of SwiftKey. Also allows for Swype-type function which I also love. That said, if SwiftKey played better with CM7 I would switch back in a heartbeat.

I have SwiftKey, and like it fine, but find I prefer Smartkeyboard Pro. Its word prediction is at least as good as SwiftKey's, and, when I use the HD Steel skin, it both looks bigger and is a tad easier to use, more customizable, etc.

I installed SwiftKey recently when it was Amazon's Free App of the day. Otherwise, I always thought my stock virtual keyboard was fine. Man, was I wrong. SwiftKey is fantastic!! Often it just knows what I want to say next. Now even old guys with fat fingers like me can bang out emails and SMS as quickly as their teenage children. Love it and looking forward to the updated version. Curious how they could make it any better, but I guess we'll see.

SwiftKey for the win wish I could change the color of the keyboard though.

Swiftkey all the way! =D
