Huawei MediaPad packs Honeycomb into a 7-inch bundle

Huawei may not be the biggest name in Android, but that isn’t stoping the company from producing quite possibly the most drool-worthy Honeycomb tablet to date. Today, June 20th, the Huawei MediaPad has been unveiled, and boy does it look nice.

Borrowing on some design elements from other top manufacturers across the globe, the MediaPad features an aluminium unibody design, and owns the bragging rights to “the world’s 7-inch tablet to run Android 3.2 Honeycomb.” (For those of you wondering, Honeycomb 3.2 is essentially the same as 3.1, but includes some optimizations for 7-inch screens.) Underneath the 7-inch IPS display, you’ll find a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor which supports full 1080p playback, 8GB of internal storage, a microSD slot, 14.4 Mbps HSPA+, 1.3MP front-facing camera, 5MP rear camera, and Flash 10.3. There’s also HDMI out for media junkies, and Bluetooth for various communication and entertainment purposes.

The MediaPad may not ever release as a WiFi only device, and pricing on the HSPA+ model has yet to be revealed. A release frame for the US has been pegged at Q3. Don’t forget to check out the video demo below, and be sure to let us know what you think in the comments.

Entertainment and gaming experience are taken to the next level with the MediaPad’s 1.2GHz Dual-Core processor, high definition playback and HDMI port.
