Poll: Are you interested in Mozilla’s Android-based OS?

A few days ago, SeaMonkey, Firefox, and Firefox Mobile company, Mozilla, announced that they are working on an Android-based operating system for mobile devices. The software would utilize Android for beneath-the-surface operations like managing hardware, but would feature a completely new UI.

The “Frakenstein” OS is called Boot to Gecko–or B2G–and will forgo Java entirely. Mozilla will release the source code as it is integrated. Android apps will be ported, but originals will be designed to run from the web. Perhaps Fennec will be the UI for B2G.

Will Mozilla do with Firefox what Google has done with the Chrome OS, only for smaller form factors? If so, would you be interested in such a device?

Sounds promising, I like other Mozilla stuff.

I probably wouldn't snatch the 1st Mozilla phone, but I'm much more interested than "meh".

+1 for the innovation that comes from competition!

To put it simply, no.  Mozilla makes great stuff but it's very... bland?  Not the sexiest OS to put on a mobile phone. I am, however, happy that there is so much competition going on with Android-based UIs.  It fosters innovation.

Can't say that I'm too interested considering everybody but Sprint is ditching unlimited data. Maybe if it was a wifi tablet type of device (something that doesn't require constant internet connectivity). As for phones, I think I'm perfectly fine with Android :)

I'm all for the competition but I'd have to see how B2G looks, how it works, what innovative approach it brings to the table and what kind of hardware manufacturer support it garners.
