For those of you out there with a Motorola DROID 2, you’ve probably been grinding your teeth at all of these other handsets getting updated to Android 2.3, or Gingerbread, while there hasn’t been much said about the update rolling out to your device of choice. That’s about to change, thanks to a report from Droid-Life that suggests some folks out there have been invited to run in Motorola’s soak test for the Gingerbread update. After some initial rumors that the update had been delayed, it’s good to see that Motorola is still trying to get Gingerbread onto the devices.
As far as details go, it’s anyone’s guess as to when, exactly, the testers will receive the test update on their devices. However, it could be anywhere in the next few days. So what about the rest of us? IF you’re not lucky enough to be part of the soak test, then you may have to wait another week or two, and that’s the best-case scenario. There’s no official word when the final update will begin rolling out for everyone else, but if the soak test goes well, it could be soon.
