Samsung Galaxy S II isn’t coming to Verizon
If you’ve been eagerly anticipating the release of the Samsung Galaxy S II variant for Verizon Wireless, then your wait is over. Unfortunately, it isn’t good news. Verizon has confirmed with The Wall Street Journal that they will not be launching the Galaxy S II for their network. While Samsung is still set to unveil the Galaxy S II variants for the US during their event on August 29th, it looks like Verizon is keeping their airwaves out of the running.
Citing their “extensive portfolio, Verizon won’t be launching the Galaxy S II. “We have an extensive portfolio that offers customers a great variety of devices, including the Samsung Droid Charge,” said Brenda Raney, a spokeswoman for Verizon Wireless. It would seem that Verizon’s position on Android, along with the devices that are coming down the pipe, means that they don’t believe the Galaxy S II variant has a place on their shelves. Interesting, though, to compare the DROID Charge to the Galaxy S II, though, when most people wouldn’t consider that much of a comparison.
It’s definitely in the top 5 of their dumbest decisions! It was Samsungs legal team that issued the cease and desist not VZW. As for the Nexus Prime being "Practically" confirmed, I won’t believe it until I see it. VZW confirmed they would carry the first Nexus and then pulled the plug. All the rumors floating around had the S2 practically confirmed and we see how that went.
