In an announcement made today by Google, via the company’s official blog, the search giant has purchased Zagat. If the latter company doesn’t sound familiar, they probably should, especially if you’ve ever looked up a rating for a restaurant. The company is known for compiling scores for restaurants, and generating a rating from those scores. With the purchase from Google, it’s no surprise as to how Google will use Zagat’s information.
The Zagat ratings will be incorporated into Google Maps and Search, as well as Google Places, to better equip these services. While Google has been hard at work on improving their own rating systems in these services, it can only help Google to have Zagat including their own rating systems. Expect the new changes to come around sooner or later.
