For those of you out there aching to get your hands on Samsung’s 8.9-inch tablet, the Galaxy Tab 8.9, then you’re probably already pretty excited about the title up there. You’ve probably even already pre-ordered your new tablet through Best Buy. But if you haven’t, because you’ve been waiting to hear an official release date, then get your wallet out, because Samsung has finally made the launch dates official. Not only that, but the manufacturer’s Galaxy Player devices are also coming to the States in the not too distant future, too.
As the title suggests, Samsung has finally made official the October 2nd launch date. We had heard grumblings of this date in the past, but it’s good to finally have an official announcement. You should expect to see Android 3.1 right out of the box, which is skinned by Samsung’s proprietary TouchWiz UX. There’s no word on an update to Android 3.2 right now, but hopefully that will be addressed soon after the device’s launch (if not before). Pricing is indeed staying the same, as the 16GB model will run you $469, and the 32GB model will cost $569.
As for the pair of Galaxy Players, the Samsung-branded competition to Apple’s iPod Touch will finally be making their way State-side on October 16. You’ll be able to get your hands on the Galaxy Player 4.0 or the 5.0, which will mean you’ll either have a touchscreen PMP with a four-inch screen, or a PMP with a five-inch screen. If you’re looking at the 4-inch model, Samsung will be taking $229 of your hard-earned cash. As for the 5-inch model, that one will run you a cool $269. Good news for anyone wanting a new Samsung-branded product. Go ahead and check out the full press release below.
