As far as rumors go, the ones for the Nexus Prime seem pretty quiet. Relatively. While talk of other handsets is obviously still around, the next generation Android device, which is said to be the first handset to feature Android 4.0, or Ice Cream Sandwich, is starting to take up plenty of the center stage. And with this latest rumor, which comes from a paper supposedly delivered by a Verizon headquarters employee, it looks like talk about the device is about to pick up.
We’ve heard that Ice Cream Sandwich is coming very soon. And, with more and more rumors suggesting that the Samsung Prime will be the device that brings the new software to the people, it would make sense that its announcement would come next month. As you can see on the paper, the HQ employee believes that the Prime’s announcement will come sometime shortly after the iPhone 5′s release. While Apple is staying mum on that particular subject, plenty of folks believe that’s coming in October. That falls right in line with what we’ve heard regarding ICS’s release.
What’s also curious, and will simply add fuel to the fire, is continued talk that the Prime won’t actually take up the DROID mantle after all. We’ve seen that it will be replacing the Samsung DROID Charge, but it may just be in essence, and not necessarily in branding. We’ll have to wait and see what happens, but according to this latest rumor, we won’t have to wait too much longer.
