What can we expect from a “Google Episode” of Samsung Unpacked? Probably something related to Android. Of course, the above image you’re looking at mentions Android specifically, letting us know that we’ll get a good look at what’s next for the little green ‘droid we all know and love so much. With that being said, and considering Samsung’s obvious connection, there’s already plenty of speculation going around as to what’s going to be unveiled.
As the invitation suggests, the party will go down on Tuesday, October 11th of this year. Interestingly enough, it’s the same day that the CTIA 2011 show starts, which can only mean that Samsung is ready to start the trade show with a bang. And, how can they do that? Well, the obvious conclusion would be the Samsung Nexus Prime, reportedly the first Ice Cream Sandwich device, and obviously the latest addition to the Nexus family lineage. We do know that Ice Cream Sandwich, or what is believed to be Android 4.0, will be on hand to demonstrate to the masses, but there still seems to be hesitation about the appearance of the next Nexus device.
That may have something to do with rumors suggesting that Verizon has a lock on the first Ice Cream Sandwich device, which has been circling the rumor mill for quite some time. That device, reportedly known as the DROID Nexus, or Nexus PRIME, or DROID Prime. Basically, the name of the device is anyone’s guess at this point. However, if this is true, then we may only get a sneak peak at the next Samsung manufactured Nexus device, instead of a full serving.
However, we’ll point out that we’re pretty sure Samsung is ready to show off the device, even if it won’t be launched until after Verizon’s own version. We’ll just have to wait and see — luckily, we don’t have to wait long.
