For those of you in the UK who have been waiting to get their Google Books on, the time of waiting is over. Google has just made it known that the service, which is a real competitor to the likes of the Kindle Bookstore or other eReaders and digital libraries out there.
Unfortunately, the service hasn’t been made available to everyone, but it looks like that’s changing ever so slightly. According to Google, “Readers in the UK now have access to the world’s largest ebooks collection, with hundreds of thousands of ebooks for sale – from major UK publishers like Hachette, Random House and Penguin – as well as more than two million public domain ebooks for free.”
For the avid reader, especially those who love to get their hands on the classics within the public domain, Google Books is a top-tier service. You will need to have an Android device that’s running Android 2.1 or newer, so keep that in mind. The app is available now.
