Verizon seems to be preparing for a new tablet launch, if recent images of an internal Verizon system are to be believed. While we have heard rumors of the XOOM’s successor in the past, it has been a little bit of time since the last one popped up out of the blue. This one, while not entirely informative, does let us know that Motorola is moving ahead with the XOOM 2, and that Verizon is preparing its shelves for the device.
We do learn a little bit more about the devices this time around, though. The two model numbers that have popped up in the internal system are MZ609 and MZ617. From what we’ve seen in the past, we have determined that the MZ609 is the 8.2-inch Motorola XOOM Media Edition, and it will have 4G LTE-connectivity. The device will also apparently come in either a 16 or 32GB version. As for the MZ617, that looks to be the XOOM 2, with its 10.1-inch display, and it will come in either 16, 32 or 64GB models. The XOOM 2 will also be able to connect to Verizon’s 4G LTE network.
We’re still waiting for a release date for both devices, so stay tuned. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long.
