Android coming to a USB drive near you
FXI Technologies has pushed the Android OS to the desktop, well sort of. FXI’s Cotton Candy USB drive is a streamlined computer inside a USB memory stick. The computer inside this magical device leverages, wait for it, Android 2.3.
Cotton Candy features a 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex A9-based process (the same processor architecture that one can find from the fastest chips from Apple and Nvidia). It also packs a GPU and 1 GB of RAM. It’s impressive.
The possibilities are staggering. This little USB-that-could will bring Android to just about any form factor as long as it has a USB port. While it won’t be able to hop into the Android Market for apps, sideloading will still be an option.
