A year ago, tablets seemed to be an unnecessary novelty item that nobody wanted to admit they wanted because who wants to be caught spending $500-plus on something they really didn’t need. I don’t think we could have foreseen, then, what the tablet industry is like today. Now that dual-core processors are the standard for smartphones, the question in the back of our minds was: who’s going to be the first to release a quad-core tablet and when?
Enter the ASUS Transformer Prime. Coming in with the “world’s first” quad-core processor, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (supposedly), with an optional just-as-sleek QWERTY keyboard docking station, this tablet has turned heads very quickly. I should say, turned credit cards, because after being up for one day on pre-sale it was sold out by the end of the day. The tablets have already made it up on Amazon’s coveted Best Sellers list. But fret not. You can sign-up to be notified through email when the next batch of Transformer Primes becomes available. And if the rumors are accurate, we should be getting an email within the next couple weeks. So find that money quickly because you never know when you’ll have to lay down $600 dollars, and this year you won’t have to feel ashamed of it.
