The Wildfire S from HTC isn’t a new phone by any means, but it’s getting a breath of new life here shortly. The regional carrier metroPCS has announced that the device will be heading to their network this week. For those on the carrier that want a phone with the latest version of Android, but don’t mind a whole heaping mound of specifications in the other departments, the Wildfire S fits the bill.
The device has a 3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen display, a 600MHz processor, and a 5MP rear-facing camera. It will launch with Android 2.3 out of the box, and you’ll obviously find HTC’s Sense UI packed in there, too. The device will come tagged with a $179 price tag, and will be in stores sometime this week. It will also be available online, if you don’t want to play with the handset first, before you make your purchasing decision. The full press release is below.
