While most folks expect their software updates to come down from over the air (OTA), that’s not always the way that carriers push these kinds of updates out. Sometimes downloading it from the PC is easier (but not often), and that’s exactly the case for the Samsung Galaxy S 4G, which is now being offered the Gingerbread update.
For owners of the device on the T-Mobile network, you’ll have to plug your device into your computer, and download the software update via the Samsung Kies Mini software. You should find software build T959VUVKJ6 available to download, which will officially bring your device to Android 2.3. It will give you the suite of new features brought with Gingerbread, but it also has a Google security patch included, along with enhancements to the WiFi and camera.
So go ahead, download and update your phone, and then be sure to let us know what you think of the new features.
