Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Android 3.2 update rolling out now, reportedly breaking WiFi and other features

Everyone loves a good update, especially when it brings your favorite software to the latest and greatest version. Luckily for Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 owners out there, the update to Android 3.2 is now being rolled out. However, while an update like this should go over well enough, that doesn’t seem to be the case at all.

For some, plenty in fact, owners of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 are reporting that the update isn’t installing at all, or worse yet, actually rendering Wi-Fi useless. The update itself measures in at only 63.12MB, and it is indeed meant for the WiFi-only version. So, the fact that it is breaking WiFi is a pretty big deal. As of right now, it seems that even a hard reset isn’t doing anything to fix the issue.

We’ll have to see what Samsung says about this. And if you’ve updated your Tab 10.1 to Android 3.2, let us know how it went for you.

After the update videos no longer work.  The video player wont even load when you press the video icon.  How do we undo this release?

I to have the same problem Update failed message and no wi-fi  and basically a brick $600 brick. talked to samsung online support they recommend sending it back for service. Now when i try to send request for service it tlls me invalid s/n  this just keeps getting worse. Hope they can find a fix soon

I managed to find the original software and reload it. Everything is working again (pre-3.2) following instructions on XDA Developers web site.

I too have been bitten by this glitch. I have an expensive paper weight now and can expect about a 10 day turn around time to have this serviced. Customer Support , not terribly useful by the way. Would STRONGLY advise NOT doing the firmware upgrade.

I am very interested to hear what Samsung plans to do to compensate everyone for the inconvenience caused by this issue. Reloading the tablet with content, up to 10 days without a tablet and more importantly,  this type of issue can and might happen again unless they do something about this. In the event someone from Samsung is reading this, I would suggest the following compensation options: 1) Upgrade the unit to the next larger size (16G => 32G) or 2) Free peripherals Clearly the users have done nothing wrong and followed proper procedure.

I asked Samsung directly this: "How does Samsung intend to compensate it's customers for the inconvenience directly caused by your flawed software push? And since your estimates are BUSINESS days I will not get my tablet back until December 14, which is completely unacceptable." Their response: "The compensation is that there will be no cost for shipping or for the re-flash, oh and we're sorry." Completely unacceptable. 50% off accessory coupons or $50 gift card for apps would be fair. I already have the 32GB so upgrade wouldn't work for me.

Some form of compensation "should" happen but I wouldn't be surprised if nothing comes of it. Throwing in peripherals (i.e. keyboard, usb adapter, case) would be options as well. My larger concern is higher up the chain. When another firmware issue occurs (note I said when and not if), I certainly don't want to go through this drill again. Clearly some form of an undo or revert option needs to be incorporated when applying a firmware "upgrade". On that note, I also feel that this firmware release was not properly tested. Proper testing would have caught this as a bug and prevented this issue entirely.  Samsung: Shame shame shame on you! Bad release practice!

i got the updated just fine with no errors its works even better now hope you guys get yours fixed soon

I updated mine after 4pm today and my wifi works but, it doesn't rotate neither does the sound work, and when I try to do a soft reset it comes up with an error code that the firmware is missing then after a couple of minutes it turns back on with the same issue's. How can i go back to HC 3.1???

you need to go into the settings and allow it to auto rotate

I updated mine while I was on the school wifi.  Accelerometer/WiFi and a host of other features aren't working now.  Trying to figure out how to roll back to 3.1 now.  Might have to root it, I guess.

now im scared 2 update my tab lol

there is no need to worry i updated mine and it way smother now
