More often than not, when we see a phone’s frame leaked onto the Internet, there’s a real lack of exposed circuitry going on. Not with these images, though. No, we are obviously looking at a very early test build for a reportedly next-generation smartphone from Sony Ericsson. The device is the Sony Ericsson LT22i, or “Nypon.” And while nothing is quite official yet, there are plenty of rumors already floating around about the device.
The LT22i Nypon is reportedly featuring a touchscreen display with a 960×540 qHD resolution. There doesn’t seem to be any word on how big the display is, though. But, the big news is what may or may not be under the hood. One source claims that the device will feature a NovaThor U8500 1GHz dual-core processor. This particular dual-core processor is able to record video at 1080p, plus more. It will also launch with Android 4.0, or Ice Cream Sandwich.
The device will also be able to support a camera up to 20MP, as well as HDMI and USB ports. Yes, you read those right. Not micro-USB or micro-HDMI — but actual ports. These are still just rumors, though, so maybe don’t get too excited quite yet. It is interesting to see yet another Sony Ericsson device creeping up onto the Internet, especially one in such an early stage of development. We’re wondering how many phones are left to come down the pipe with that particular combination of branding, now that Sony is running the show.
