So you heard about LG’s partnership with Box.net, delivering 50GB of free cloud storage for all purchasers of LG phones. That’s great and all, but what about the estimated 80% of mobile subscribers that don’t use LG handsets? Before long, Sony jumped on the bandwagon and offered the same deal on their Xperia Play. Before I go on, let me just say that Android’s community of developers is great. Ok, so back to the issue at hand. You don’t have an LG or Sony handset, but you really, really want; nay, need that free 50 gigs… bad.
Well developer redphx has released an app that brings you just that with no root access needed. Don’t as us how he works that magic, we don’t know. What we do know is that it is tested a proven to work. This brazen app was initially released on the Android Market and has since been pulled. Luckily, the APK is floating around and what do ya know?! You can find it here. So sign up for a Box.net account, then install the APK, and login. One caveat, you need to provide your Box.net login info and the developer promises “NO email or password is stored or transferred”. In any case, changing your password is simple enough and 50GB for free is nothing to scoff at.
