Ensquared, providers of smartphone and tablet insurance on the internet, announced that insurance sales for Android devices are outpacing the iPhone 4S. While Android still has a ways to go in terms of catching up in the tablet game (the iPad still takes the cake), clearly, Android is coming out on top with regard to smartphones.
The insurance firm reports that Android devices are being insured at a ratio of 2:1 to the latest Apple product. The byproduct of this is that Android phones, while just as sophisticated in terms of hardware (sometimes more so in the case of new phones such as the Galaxy Nexus), are costing about 30% less to insure than their iPhone counterpart.
In terms of their services, Ensquared offers comprehensive coverage for losses, accidents, and stolen gadgets. In addition, while devices picked up from carriers require that you enroll in an insurance plan within a month of purchase, Ensquared’s policy can kick in up to 90 days after your purchase date so gifting a phone and getting insurance isn’t a hassle. A big plus for this holiday season. The whole process only takes a credit card or Paypal account and less than 5 minutes of your time.
