Huawei Mercury for Cricket Wireless officially announced

While Cricket has a few Android devices on offer right now, none of them really stand out like the Huawei Mercury. The device has been officially announced by the regional carrier, with an expected availability date of today. By far this is the best Android device the contract-free carrier has ever offered, so if you’re under the network’s wing or plan to be, you may want to set your sighs on this device.

The Huawei Mercury has been known as the Glory, and most recently as the Honor, and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread. As far as other features go, you’re looking at a 4-inch FWVGA touchscreen display, an 8MP rear-facing camera, and a 1.4GHz (single-core) processor under the hood. The device also has a WiFi mobile hotspot feature, Bluetooth, GPS, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There is 2GB of internal memory, with a microSD card slot to expand it.

The device will be available for $249.99. As of the time of this writing, the device wasn’t listed under the available smartphones, but we imagine that will change soon. You can read the press release below.
