Lava International, an Indian manufacturer, has announced that they will be offering a budget Gingerbread tablet in February of 2012. The Android 2.3-based tablet would feature a 7-inch capacitive touch display powered by a 1GHz processor. While this is set to be a budget tablet offering, it will still be offered as part of a device/wireless plan bundle.
Lava has big plans for 2012. Their tablet offering is just the beginning. The company will also try to break into the smartphone market by March or April of next year. In addition, they will be taking their offerings to other parts of the world like Africa, Chile, and Peru. While there isn’t much else in terms of official announcements, the wait won’t be long so we should get word soon. As we learn we will report.
