The MIUI team, the Android experience customizers responsible for MIUI, has begun efforts to port their popular custom ROM over to Android 4.0. While Cyanogen has to take the cake for being the custom ROM of choice, MIUI has the unique distinction of being the only community-driven custom ROM to be on a retail device, the Xiaomi MI-One.
The ROM bares little resemblance to Ice Cream Sandwich’s new, minimalistic design. Of course, that can be a good or bad thing depending on the individual user. The complete package is a bit of this and a bit of that, borrowing from other mobile platforms and leveraging Android’s own wealth of features. A date hasn’t been set yet for the release of the ROM, but the devs were kind enough to post a walkthrough of the upcoming release on their site. Head over and check it out. Who knows? Maybe you’ll decide that it’s time for a change and MIUI may be the answer.
