Motorola DROID RAZR having SIM card problems

If you have a DROID RAZR and are having SIM card issues then you are not alone. I hope that comforts you and keeps you from trying to smash your phone into a million pieces. I guess you won’t be able to since it has a Gorilla Glass and kevlar fiber encasing.

Some RAZR owners have reportedly received a notification saying: “SIM card authorization error” and “The SIM Card may not be authorized for LTE service. Please Power down the phone and contact Wireless Provider Customer Service.” Upon receiving this message they no longer are connected to Verizon’s 4G LTE network.

Verizon is aware of the situation but can’t seem to find what has caused this SIM card malfunction. Some RAZR owners have been told that they need a new SIM card. For Verizon to be aware of the problem means that it’s more than a few people that has this problem. If this was you and you got it fixed, comment and let us know how you went about fixing the issue. It might help a fellow RAZR owner side step the big headache of calling Verizon tech support and going through their trouble shooting routine.

My phone has been working fine but yesterday it randomly shut off during the night and when i tried to turn it back on it shows that I didn't have service or a sim card. I don't really know what to do because less than 12 hours ago it was working perfectly fine. I'm actually kind of scared ... what should i do?

I don't know if I got a message about the sim but my phone hasn't connected to the network after getting a software update 3 days ago battery ran out in the middle after turning it on no network I also took the phone to a Verizon store I'm getting a new razr thru the mail I hope it's not the sim card

I went to verizon they put a new sim card in for me it took about 12 hours for the system to recognize my card then I was back online have not have any trouble since

had the same issue. I took it back to verizon. They gave me a new sim card. That seemed to fix the problem.

I received that error as well a week after the purchase...How ever all I did was turn off the phone and left it that way over night, thinking I would deal with Verizon in the a.m...still not wanting to deal with them I powered the phone up and all was good to go...Haven't had any errors since then. Now I'm not saying this will work for everyone. It was just luck for me

I had that problem..went to Verizon they gave me a new sim card..started doing the same thing..went back to Verizon they ordered me a new phone..haven't had a sim card problem..just lose internet connection all the time..smh at this phone

I got the same sim card error message. the Verizon tech spoke to a Motorola tech and advised me to get a new sim card. Phone works great now. hope this helps.

I lost all internet capabilities once I received the red x with the sim card message. Went to the store and the sales rep called tech support for me. They only said the same thing you did, they were aware of the issue and would call me when it was fixed.

@Chris Goodman I had the same issue. Tech support told me to get new sim card. I did my own trials and came to the conclusion that when I press on the sim/media card door or play around with it, I lose antenna connection. The pressure on the door probably disrupts the sim card connection.

I work for Verizon and support the customer service agents as a helpdesk technician. I can confirm that support is working on the issue as we speak.
