If you’ve got yourself a Motorola XOOM, then you know that updates to the device haven’t necessarily been the quickest. But if you’re someone who doesn’t mind getting the latest and greatest updates for your device “unofficially,” then we’ve got some good news for you this morning. There’s an unofficial port of Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich running around right now, and it’s working on the XOOM.
But, as these things go, there’s a few things just not working. Specifically, the unofficial port has caused the GPS and camera to malfunction at this point in time. Additionally, there are some reports that videos from some sources aren’t working, like High Quality videos on YouTube and some videos over Netflix. But, that’s it so far — and the rest of the build seems to be working quite well.
If you’re willing to get the unofficial port onto your device to check it out, keep in mind that it’s still a work in progress, but that more than likely the port will have everything working before Motorola gets around to officially upgrading it. If you do happen to take the necessary steps, be sure to let us know how it goes.
